The Yamunotri Temple is the most important place of worship in the area. This location is all about the goddess Yamuna. The temple sits 3,293 meters above sea level and looks majestic against the snowy peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas. The temple was established in the 1800s by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur. Inside, there is a black stone statue of the goddess. There is also a white statue of Ganga in the holy place. The statue demonstrates how all the holy rivers are connected. Before they go into the temple, pilgrims pray at Divya Shila, a holy stone that is claimed to contain energy from heaven. Another remarkable thing is Surya Kund, a hot spring that boils. People who worship place grains and potatoes in fabric and tie them up, then put them in the spring. They are prepared in a natural fashion and distributed to worshippers as prasad. The temple is open from late April or early May to October or November; however, it is closed during the long, cold winters. People in Kharsali village continue to pray to the idol even though the temple is closed. The temple isn't very fancy, but it has a lot of spiritual power that brings in hundreds of people every year. Yamunotri Temple is a beautiful place that people really like. It is also a significant part of the Char Dham pilgrimage.
1. By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the closest airport. It is around 200 miles from Yamunotri. You can take a taxi or bus from the airport to Barkot or Hanuman Chatti, which are two important destinations on the yatra.
2. By Train: You can get to Rishikesh or Dehradun by train. People then get in their cars and drive. You may easily get to Barkot and the base villages for the temple interview via bus, shared jeep, or cab.
3. Road Route to Barkot: The roads from Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh to Barkot are in excellent shape. This beautiful road contains rivers and mountains along the way, making it an ideal place for pilgrims to stop on their way to Barkot.
4. Hanuman Chatti to Janki Chatti: You can drive from Barkot to Hanuman Chatti and then to Janki Chatti. Tourists pass by roadside cafés and simple places to stay on their way to the Yamunotri temple.
5. Final Trek Route: The hike from Janki Chatti to Yamunotri Temple is 6 kilometers long and not too challenging. The excursion brings you to Dev Bhumi places like Surya Kund and Divya Shila, which are both spiritual and beautiful.
6. Alternate Routes: There are many ways for pilgrims to get to Yamunotri, such as Mussoorie–Barkot or Rishikesh–Dharasu. These other routes provide you options that can help when there is a lot of traffic or bad weather.
7. On-Ground Transport Services: You can go to Janki Chatti by SUV, car, or private cab. You can rent ponies, palkis, and pitthus for the trip. These services make sure that everyone may travel in comfort, even senior people or people who have trouble getting around.
