Now, the monsoon is officially here. Government officials are preparing measures, especially in the Joshimath region. Last year the land was hit by subsidence. The government is taking steps to mitigate the impact of monsoons. The government and local bodies in Uttarakhand undertake measures like early warning systems for landslides and floods, strengthening infrastructure, conducting regular inspections of vulnerable areas, and implementing evacuation plans in case of emergencies. In the Chamoli region as well, authorities have planned multiple strategies to prevent disaster from rain. Especially, after the land subsidence case from January, this will be the first monsoon in the affected area.
There are a total of 868 buildings, which serve as the gateway to the Char Dham Yatra. The 181 buildings are deemed completely unsafe. More than 500 families have received compensation and 60 families have been accommodated in Hotels and Dharamshalas. Also, heavy rains during the monsoon season can cause electrical failures and power outagesMonsoons can cause damage to infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and buildings. The rainfall and associated hazards can weaken the structures, leading to their collapse or damage. The government is also making the utmost effort to prevent any incidents.
